NanoCoatings, Inc. (NCI) is a flexible business dedicated to the transition of new coating materials and novel coating deposition methods that were developed under government-funded Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) and Technology Transfer (STTR) programs conducted by a sister company, Engineered Coatings, Inc. (ECI). These unique coating materials and deposition methods, while developed for specific Department of Defense (DoD) applications, can be applied to commercial industry to improve materials’ surface-related properties, such as corrosion, friction/wear, abrasion and erosion resistance. Components such as pump shafts, valve surfaces, biomedical components, bushings/bearings and gears can be improved with our coating surface.

Leveraging the ECI-developed technologies, NanoCoatings offers a wide range of unique coating deposition services, including: 1) triode-assisted physical (PVD) & chemical vapor deposition (CVD) employing magnetron sputtering, 2) atmospheric plasma CVD (AP-CVD) & atomized spray of nanoparticles, and 3) plasma-electrolytic-oxidation (PEO) conversion surface treatments. In addition to providing coating toll services with the above deposition methods, NCI also has equipment to measure material tribological-properties, such as coefficient of friction/wear factor, sand-abrasion resistance, and sand-erosion resistance. Finally, failure analysis and material/coating recommendations are offered along with grant-writing services.
